☕️Tea Recommendation: Chai Almond Latte
Hey friends,
I jokingly shared in my weekly R.E.P.O.R.T. that once Wednesday showed up I blinked and all of a sudden the week was over. Which I think in part is because I was highly anticipating the next book in the Legendborn Cycle by Tracy so much, (more on that later) that once one of the physical copies I’d been waiting for finally landed on my doorstep Wednesday evening, Thursday felt like a fast forwarded fever dream lol
How was your first full week of March?
Oathbound Day ❤️⚔️💙⚔️💜
The long anticipated third book in the Legendborn Cycle, Oathbound by #1 New York Times Bestselling Author Tracy Deonn, released this past Tuesday, March 4th.
In anticipation, I started rereading the first and second books, Legendborn and Bloodmarked, in the last few weeks of February, and as I am in the trenches of Oathbound, I’m very glad I did.
With this release, I absolutely adored seeing all of the well deserved hype and support from the book community that this series deserves. The books have a special place in my heart for various reasons, which I’m thinking of dedicating a post to sometime this year. One of them being Legendborn, was one of the first books I received an advanced copy of back in 2020.
I remember buddy reading it with my bookish bestie Toya, and truly seeing specific parts of myself in Bree that first time around. I remember telling anyone who would listen how much they needed this book in their life. While silently hoping and wishing that it would get the massive fandom it absolutely deserved.
Five years later, I am beyond excited to see the author, characters, world get that and more.
However, even with the support and Tracy’s accomplishments, it was disheartening to hear that when folks ventured out to bookstores, Barnes & Noble specifically, they were having a hard time finding Oathbound. While other series received prominent tables and displays, it was beyond lackluster for this one at multiple locations.
Are we surprised? No. Is it extremely frustrating? Absolutely.
I honestly don’t have much more to add to the conversation at this point. So excuse me as I return to this world and allow Tracy to ruin my life.
New Reading Habits & Book Content Creation
In the seven years that I’ve been a part of the book community, I have always had a numerical reading goal for the year. However, I still haven’t decided on one for this year.
I’d love to say this is intentional, but it’s truly a mistake that, at least for right now, I don’t feel like rectifying. As a result, I’ve noticed my reading has slowed down, I’ve done a bit more rereading as well, and so there just isn’t a pull towards a specific number of books for me yet.
I’m prioritizing genres, authors, and other reading goals instead.
With book content creation, I am hoping to be better about sharing some of my raw thoughts for books this year. Especially books that garner deep and emotional reactions. I’m also hoping to do a better job of hyping up books I love. Let’s see where the rest of the year takes us.
Reminder: Keep Going
Remember when I talked about self doubt last month? Well, it came a knocking, once again, this week. Honestly, it’s hard to work in the same space or realm that also happens to be your hobby. Those lines blur more than I’d like. For example, if I feel like I’m not “successful” in my hobby, then it also translates to the work that I do or vice versa. However, every time I felt down this week, I’d pick up my phone and scroll and be met with one encouraging message after the other.
So, consider this your reminder to keep going!
Do you have any new fave reads or any not-so-new ones? Or are you anticipating any new releases this month?
With that we are at the end of another newsletter and week. As always thank you for tuning into my musings and I’ll catch you in your inbox soon!
